2020 Yorktown Veterans Day Parade

Hello Yorktown! After much discussion and option exploration, we have just received permission to hold a "Reverse Veteran's Day Parade" on Sunday November 8 at 1:PM. PLEASE read the information and instructions carefully and share this info with as many folks as you can! LETS HONOR YORKTOWN'S VETERANS TOGETHER! Sunday November 8, 2020, 1-3PM: All Veterans and Veterans Groups (and their immediate family) assemble along Veterans Road 12:30 -1:00 PM. Bring your banner. Please park in the professional building parking lot adjacent to the American Legion Hall. All veterans will social distance along South side of Veterans Road (and North side if necessary) between American Legion Hall and VFW Hall including Yorktown Nursery School. Please wear a mask. We will provide chairs but you may want to bring your own. Please RSVP. |
Yorktown Citizens in cars will assemble and stage in rear parking lots of Acme and other Triangle businesses along Maple Hill Street across from Post Office from 12:30 - 1:00 PM. Decorate cars if you wish with flags and patriotic signs, etc. Please enter the staging area via the Maple Street/35/202/ entrance. (by Brookside Ave.) See map. We are limiting the cars to 200 as per YPD, so please contact us to RSVP. All scout groups and civic organizations are encouraged to participate.
Led by Police car (s) Fire truck (s) and Ambulances, the citizens vehicle parade will exit said parking lots onto Maple Hill Street and turn right onto Veterans Road, slowly passing and saluting our Veterans with horns, flags , etc., until exiting area at corner traffic light at Veterans Road and Commerce Street.
